NSG Drama & Super power status
Talk of the town in all parts of India seems to be Nuclear deal. The euphoria is here to stay for sometime. so here is my bit of it.
Now its a out in public that NSG draft has been modified to accomdate some of the concerns of member countries. Now the point I wish to bring in here are:
On the other note, according to me the whole NSG drama is sending a political message world over.
May be the failure of Iraq & Afghanistan clubbed with the raise of new economic powers like BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India & China) started spoiling the policeman image of the world for US
Cheers

- Did India & US underestimate the presence/role of NSG?
- Did US thought it can bully the smaller nations like Austria, Swiz & Newzland towards the deal? (They are ones who are blocking it now)
On the other note, according to me the whole NSG drama is sending a political message world over.
- US is moving towards the fag end of the super power era?
- Can it not do things as it use to do with bullying & force?

NSG Drama & Super Power Status
I believe the NSG drama would have concluded today evening. Anyway here is my 2 cents opinion :
US has always thought that it could bully any other nation, hans't it?. It had reasons to believe so, atleast since the second world war. Truly it's the US's aggressive steps ( not due to public interest, though) on Japan that had brought an end to the second world war.
And yes, in my opinion, both India (preparing itself for super power) and US (acting as super power) had grossly underestimated the role of NSG. US might have considered NSG as another UN (existing but ineffective).
Though US's superpower image has taken a beat in recent times, it still assumes the superpower image (don't forget Georgia). In the NSG, US may still get what they want. However my fear in this whole episode is- how much can India trust US in this 123 agreement?
Somewhere there will be let down..................................
